Summer 2007

I'm taking a break from the usual pre-trip frenzy; cleaning, laundry, packing, etc.. I have very little to report, hence the lack of updates for eight days! Where does the time go? Its hot and sticky here, but the house is relatively cool, thanks to fans and shades. I just got done with the nasty chore of forcing Storm to get the stuff out from under her bed. Miss "I don't have any dirty clothes." was quite mistaken. I now have a load of her clothes from her room (not just under the bed) and that makes three more I have to do. Including mine, because of course my stuff goes last. Yes, I do wash most things together, but some of my cold water things I'd rather not wash with the mystery stuff kids' clothes acquire. I have made some decent progress on my diamond pattern table runner. It is for fall; autumn red acrylic, with an ecru cotton yarn. I have to see more of it to be certain, but I think it will be quite nice. Then, to find a decorative item (from all my 'junk' as Buck calls it) that will go well on top of it. We have tile, and toilet and bead board(for the bathroom wainscoting)! I even managed to find an interesting tank for the toilet, without breaking anyone's (Buck) budget. If I haven't mentioned it, we've (Buck) finally decided on a color scheme. The wainscoting will be an extremely pale pink, almost white. If I can talk him into it, Ralph Lauren has 'Candlelight' that you paint over your color, and it glows, sorta. If you haunt Lowes, you know what I'm talking about. I'm too lazy to check RL's website, sorry no linky. The top will be...duh duh duhnnnnn aqua. Yes, totally fifties look. If we could have found small black and white tiles we could afford...we'd have those too. I keep calling it 'a modern take on a fifties bathroom' so I don't cringe. No, not what I would have chosen, not even close. I would have liked the small w&b tiles, but not at over $3 a square foot. The cheapies we found were $2, and that was costly enough. Its 6x6, pale pale grey, and not too shiny. It could be much worse. sorry if my lack of enthusiasm is screaming through, but I would have paid for the tiles we wanted...and would have liked more input....silly me Now, for something completely different... Our annual summer trip to MI starts tomorrow. Yay for me. I'm hoping to find some fun things for me to do before I get home, at the very least some time with my old friends. Better would be no kids, but that ain't happening until I come back home. Ok, I'm rambling which means its time to close. Enjoy your weekend after the Fourth. I know I'll be watching for fireworks!
