Home repair, yarn and camera woes

The WeatherPixieGame Giveaway of the Day

I am not allowing myself to go to any craft stores, or to check the craft aisles at Wally World. Damn, I didn't go nuts money-wise, but I did give myself at least 2 new projects and a I FINALLY found what I really wanted for my diamond pattern. The kid wants an afghan for Christmas, in red, black and silver so I acquired the yarn for that. I tracked down the nearest Jo-Ann Fabrics, and got my fricken afghan hook, too. But while I was there, I found a cotton yarn that I had to have for washcloths...in yellow, blue and white. Could NOT pass that up. As for the diamond pattern, I found ribbon yarn, color scheme 'copper penny' to go with the red yarn I have...and its soooo pretty. Excellent textures and the pattern is great for this.

AND I now have some of the hardware for my kitchen. I'm so darned excited. I have approximately half of the stuff for the kitchen, so about $40 to go. I decided to go with all knobs, no pulls (longer handles) and they are mostly brushed nickel looking, with a porcelain white button in the front, center. I did keep one handle, for the towel cabinet in the bath. I'm guessing the hardware will be the same in there, unless something bizarre happens. It will make the flow subtly better.

We have some color on the bathroom walls!! Remember my 'modern take' on a fifties bath? Yeah, well, its very fifties in feel, but not so retro. Its hard to describe, so I guess eclectic will have to do. The new toilet is more old-fashioned, 20's or 30's looking. The vanity will have a raised sink - Buck's idea! - over whatever ends up being our counters. If any of you are paint freaks...like I can be, hehe,...the wainscoting is beadboard, and its 'Jamaican Aqua' from Benjamin Moore. The upper walls are 'Pear Pink' from Ace Hardware, or True Value, not sure which is the parent of the store we were at. The pink is so pale you need to see it against white to see the pink, and the aqua is about as true an aqua as I could imagine. And not a dark shade, very...fifties car colored, heh. The tiles (if I didn't tell you already...) are a white with grey marbling, and black grout. 6x6, and not as bad as I thought. I really like the black grout, makes it much more striking. Can't wait till its done!

Have I mentioned my camera is on the fritz? Yeah...or my Flickr account would be updated!!!

Ok, off to play with yarn!!
