6:10 a.m. - 2008-01-01
New Year, new day
Good grief, I've been up for an hour and a half. I don't remember the last time I had this much uninterrupted quiet time! Yes, its 6:10am as I write this, on the New Year's Day that I didn't see come in! I was toast before 10pm. I think I'm fighting what Buck and Cloud had (kept them home for 3 days each) but I'm just having a less potent version. Sucks donkey balls, lemme tell ya.
So, Santa was good to me. I got a new pocket book - very funky, totally me, a Barnes and Noble gift card, a big electric roaster (in black no less!) and two new robes with matching slippers. One I picked out for the girls to get me, and one Buck got me. The former is an extremely soft, fluffy, turquoise robe, the latter a soft, tailored navy. Buck went silly, got the girls a refurbed laptop, and each of them a digital camera. I remember the cheap one Cloud got when she was 5 or 6; it didn't have a card, and it held like 10 very bad quality black and white photos. The girls' new cameras cost less than half of what my very nice 3 year old Canon did, and have better features. I forget how fast things upgrade when it comes to electronic toys.
Did I mention we have a new kitten? He's a good one. Sweet, mellow and so funny.
I'm kinda all over the place, but I'm not yet back in the habit of writing. A thought - if you can avoid it, do NOT start a new retail/office work hybrid job eight weeks prior to the holiday season. Makes for insanity for organization. I'm HOPING (hope for the best, prepare for the worst) now that retail insanity season is over (AKA Christmas) I can find a middle ground. The kids won't have as much stuff to do, and it should be a nice steady ride for a bit.
Ok, I need a nap! hehehe
Off to see about dozing.
