Week of Hell, join me?

I do believe its time for an entry. Of some sort... There are good things. School is out, and the kids have NOT killed each other. Enough space is given what with friends offering to take one or the other...or both sometimes! We have a 42" plasma television. And today, right now...I'm loving it, cuz the Mecum Auto Auction is on and omg...the cars...I could just reach out.... ahem Yeah, I'm a car girl. The '69 Hugger orange Chevelle? Shivers. I have/had shivers. Now...the now the not so good stuff. The past week has been hell, start to finish. Sunday: no golf for Buck, but it was a two-day weekend, a rarity, so it could have been worse. Monday: Storm's first dentist visit. The guilt alone on this subject could make a diary, but with me in and out of work since '01, dentistry has been back-burner. It went well, she was fine. The outcome? Not so mellow. If we do all the work it will be in the $3000 range. Yeah, she's 7-1/2. Its not the anything I didn't do, other than not be able to get her sealants and regular cleanings. She inherited Gramma's soft enamel. And then, I had to go pay to get our kitten out of neuter-ville. Tuesday: tried to get our HD service cable box. But no. Even after I asked about it on the phone, Ch@rter does require a credit card on file due to the cost of the box. Fine, here's the debit card. Er...not so fast. Not working, weird error...no box. Great...cranky me almost canceled cable, but I sucked it up and went home so we could use Buck's card. the cost of the box? $300? I was expecting $1000 for all their concern. Wednesday: 7:15am - out early to sign up for Weight Watchers. Try to get coffee. Again...weird error on card. The hell? Fine, my Dunkin's loves me, and gives me the coffee. But...I've got just more than fumes in my tank to get to the meeting and work (not far apart) and to try and get the box. One free meeting later, but no materials, I call the bank. bank"....oh, we called - your card was compromised and we had to freeze it with all the others. Lots of others." me ".......no, no call" Leaving me with no gas, and the sinking feeling the box will be staying at Charter. Again. Wednesday: 2:30pm - out of work, I've got to get to the bank, try to get the box, and get home for Storm's cleaning. Call bank for their third location (yeah, three branches)and its not anywhere close. Girl who answers phone has same name as one who was supposed to call me so... me "Is this the girl who was calling customers?" girl"............................yeah" me "I checked my phone, and my voice mail, and I didn't have a message. girl "...O-kayyy" me "I'm just a little frustrated, because I have a lot of things to do today, and no gas, and no cash." girl "...O-kayyy" me "I know mistakes happen, and I understand how crazed it can be, but I really wish someone would have called." girl "...O-kayyy" Yeah... I ended the call, didn't lose my cool, or raise my voice, but I was so pissed I was shaking. And I still had to go to the bank to get money. Not that branch, thank the deities. Wednesday: 4:00pm Cleaning was fine...but more $$. Thursday: itchy eyes, but no glasses with me (most recent prescription pair is broken beyond repar)...out of work, off to Charter, and home. Right eye is maddening, its so itchy...have to go out to the grocery, need meat....home again, clean the contacts...WORSE! Leave them out, closer inspection reveals a small scratch on lower, inner lid. Crap, blind for the night. Wait! my 25-year-old, larger-than you-remember, glass-lensed plastic-framed glasses are in the desk! Woot! Ugly as sin, but at least I'm not totally lost. And almost closer to my current 'script than the broken ones. Friday: I wake to find that the scratch is still visible. WTF? Yes, I wore that damned hideous pair of glasses to work. To find that major MAJOR lay-offs are occurring. Fuck, this means me. Except not...my bitter-sweet offer of continued employment was to replace, part-time, a woman I like, who was let go after 20 FUCKING YEARS at the store. Yes, I took it. Management did not offer the cut hours to her; salary costs were the reason, I'm sure. If I could afford to look elsewhere I would, but not much else will be even close to the ideal hours this is. Emotion-barometer that I am, I left work and practically ran to Barnes and Noble to use my gift card. Hell, I was so rattled, I bought a book I already had. On the way home, I not only had a nasty curb shot on the passenger side, I ran a red light. Thanks to the glasses that were MUCH LESS close to my prescription when it came to driving. Missing important details made me a granny driver the rest of the way home. Someone was looking out for me...both girls had overnight invites, so I could be home alone. Saturday: Went to that branch, told customer service what I thought of their training - not very encouraged by the response, lemme tell ya. Went home, played Zelda:Twilight Princess for damn near 6 hours. Cooked dinner, after a lengthy discussion about what was the cheapest, fastest meal. Small comforts: when I left Buck the 'I dodged a bullet' message, he did go to the Evil Empire and brought home all manner of stuff for the next week, while he is on vacation. No kids till 2:30pm today, so I could totally reign in the living room while playing Zelda. Had my butts, drink and phone on the stool, sat in the game chair in the middle of the room, and had the laptop open to the walkthrough for hints. I did get my iced coffee today. Heaven.
I think...I'm off to try and play more Zelda. Its that kind of day.
