Home again, home again, jiggity-jig

The WeatherPixieGame Giveaway of the Day

ahhh...good to be home...it may have only been just over 36 hours, but it was enough to remind me why hospitals can be a serious PITA

Sooo, how's it going?

Me too, not much.

Oh? My weekend? Well, started on Thursday with a darn near liquid diet. And not the make-me-feel-all-mellow type of liquid either. Which lead to the NPO diet as of midnight(short aside..yes, I do know what NPO means - no per os - nothing in the mouth...gah the trivia I hold) and then the up and into the snow/ice storm to be at the hospital for 6:30am. And that's just the beginning! Friday held so many more delights. First, such fashionable attire! Then, lots of arm bands, and questions about my birthdate and name; all the important things. Visiting with all sorts of new, exciting people...like the anthestesiologist from Britain, and the nurses from everywhere. Some familiar faces; my doctor, thank goodness! Off to the operating room. Talk about chilly! Chatted a bit about loving my Sleep Number bed, then off to la-la land.

I think it was 11:30am-ish when I first became aware again. Not sure. The rest of my morning consisted of vague memories of my mom sitting by the bed and many, many visits from nurses. Oy.

My afternoon? A bit more clear. Doctor came in and was very happy with the surgery results. And with my recovery. Evidently most hysterectomy patients don't sit straight up in bed, like I did. Pain? What pain? The little bit of morphine the pump sent me kept me pretty pain-free for the entire time. I did use the pretty button, but all that did was make me sleepy. Again. I got a thoroughly boring dinner(after which I took a short but much needed constitutional), which just preceded a thoroughly sleepless night. I swear, the longest I was out was 2 hours. I had the usual round of nurse visits, only they were interspersed with my IV alarm going off, and the arrival of my roommate. Poor woman had what sounded like a gallbladder attack. By 6:00am, when I spiked a temp, I was more tired than anything. By 8:00am when breakfast showed up, all I wanted was a nap! Of course, the doctor wanted me up and around. I did manage to stay up long enough to get rid of the morphine pump and the catheter(!) and read a chaper of my book. By then, it was nap time dammit. Buck showed up, with Storm, and they visited me during lunch, and then took me home.

So, how was your weekend?

No, no...Sunday was boring...tell me yours!

Off to bed; gotta be a really good girl for a while!! ;-)
